Low Budget SEO For Your New Website
This is actually a very common question which needs an answer which not many people actually have. Well if you are a person with deep pockets, you can go hire SEOMoz, Beanstalk and others to get your brand new website on top of google rankings. But what if you don’t have much money to spend ? What should be your strategy to get your website on top rankings in the search engines especially when the competition in your niche is cut throat. Sounds like a difficult question, isn’t it ? There are many ways to do that, all what is required is a killer and a well defined strategy, lot of work and patience (most important). It can take even upto an year to achieve desired rankings especially if you want it to come with low budget and the competition is tough.
Lets see how your strategy should be in such cases. Assume that you just setup a new site on a preety new domain with original content. The site is just 1 day old and not indexed in google, it has 50 pages total and your SEO budget is roughly 150$ per month. How do you start with the SEO Work ? Go through this -
1. Make sure that your site is well optimized on on-page factors. Do some basic keyword research and spread desired keywords on pages , title and meta tags. Link some keywords to the relevant pages of the site so that the spiders are sure that the page xxx is related to the keyword yyy. Concentrate more on framing better title tags.
2. Spot pages which you don’t want the spiders to index, and exclude these pages through robots.txt.
3. Register on Google Webmaster Central and verify your site. Make a list of URLs of all the pages of your website and save it as sitemap.txt in your site’s root folder. Then submit this file to google webmaster’s central as sitemap.
4. Install Google Analytics to keep track of the stats.
5. Now you need some links pointing to the site, so that it gets well indexed and little bit boosted in the search engines. Apart from that, you don’t need to build links to the homepage only. Links must point one each to all internal pages. For getting the thing started, lets have a target of 1 link each to each page. A better way to do this is through blog posts. You can goto some good webmaster forums like the digitalpoint link sales section and make a thread there that you want to buy blog reviews. Just remember to avoid blog networks as much as possible since the will only hurt your site. Avoid buying sitewide links, links from footers or directories. Buy links only which is embedded in between some article or content. Article directories will work equally good if they are quality. Buy blog reviews from individual blogs owned by individual owners. The blogs should not be interlinked. Just buy one post from each person. Say each blog post has 3 links pointing to your website, 1 to the homepage and 2 links to internal pages. You have a total of 50 pages on your website, so you will need 25 blog posts to make sure that there exists one link atleast to every page on the site. Spread this work across a period of one month. Make sure that you only buy 1 - 2 posts per day, and not more than that, to make the stuff look original to the spiders. Make sure that the review which is written on the blog contains your keywords to increase relevancy, and your desired keywords are anchored and linked to the pages you want. The payment can be anything, for a PR3 blog review will come as cheap as 3$ and PR5 may be done at 10$. For 25 reviews, it will cost you an average of 100 - 150$. The most important thing is to judge whether the blog you are buying a review is really worth buying it or not. There are many ways to do this, follow this -
- Check pagerank, but use pagerank to decide the price and not the quality. A PR2 blog may sometime give you more value than a PR5 blog.
- Goto yahoo siteexplorer and type link:www.blogdomainname.com and check, if the blog has enough links. Make sure that the blog has minimum 500 links indexed by yahoo.
- Goto Google and type link:www.blogdomainname.com and see if there are atleast 5 - 10 links indexed by google pointing to the blog.
- Goto Google and type site:www.blogdomainname.com and see if there are atleast 50+ pages indexed by google from the blog.
- Goto www.digpagerank.com and type in the blog domain name. If the PageRank values appear in Green then the blog has got good pagerank, if it shows RED then the pagerank is fake and you could expose the guy, he is probably trying to scam you.
- See if the blog got atleast some rank and authority on technorati. You can find by doing a technorati search using the blog’s domain name. For example my blog is listed here on technorati here. It has an authority of 59 and a rank of 1,26,758. Make sure your blog has atleast some authority. 5 - 10 should be enough.
6. Make use of social bookmarking services and get your site pages bookmarked at social networking websites. You can do it yourself or hire someone. People on webmaster forums do this for 3$ - 5$. You can get one done for your homepage and perhaps 3 - 4 pages a month.
7. Stay away from directory submissions initially.
8. Start a blog on your own site at the url www.domain.com/blog/. Make a post on it daily with some very interesting topic and submit it to popular bookmarking sites like digg, stumbleupon , del.icio.us. Syndicate your blog feeds through feedburner and use chicklets. Install top commentors plugin and promote user participation in your blog. Try to create a community around the blog. The traffic on the blog will help you to get traffic on the main site and more organic links.
Follow the above for few months, till then, let me think what more you can do ….. Keep Coming Back to AdityaSpeaks
