Why is digitalpoint turning into a home for con artists day by day ?
This is a post which i wanted to make from days but never did until today when i lost my patience completely. DigitalPoint is one of the most loved webmaster forums around on the Internet from past many years. The Buy/Sell/Trade section which is most popular section of the forum serves as a hub of trading various webmaster related services and products. You can easily find service providers who will submit your sites to directories, bookmark it , write articles, design etc. until a year back when it started being recognized less as a “Webmaster marketplace” and more as “Quick Buck Area”. Register on the forums, quickly spend like 10 hours on making 30 Posts per hour = 300 posts. Then sell some stuff for 0.01$ and earn a few hundred iTraders easily. Phew ! You There Got a License to Scam. Don’t worry the mods won’t do anything to you ! Start selling services on the forums, collect payment and ignore the member, stop replying to his PMs and Emails. You will be playing in thousands of bucks so easily. Forget working hard ! You don’t need to work hard to make more money on DP. Idiots like me keep rubbing asses in PHP coding and analytics to make money
Oh You might be wondering why am i saying all thse things right ? All because of the recent incident which happened with me on DP some hours back. Instead of banning a scammer, the mods banned me because i complained (Hilarious ! isn’t it ?) It happened that I needed some quick articles to be done for a client. I made a thread on DigitalPoint with the title “Need Articles with quick turnaround”. I got a PM from a member named sundaybrew saying that he will get it done quickly. I saw his iTraders which are like 300+ and posts like 5000+. I thought wow, lucky me. I made the payment and he did the articles quickly. Next, I asked him if he want to do another set of articles in a day or two, he agreed and i sent another payment. I didn’t get the articles upto three days. I Pmed him again, he said he had some personal problems, he would get it done in next few days. The story continued upto 2 months when i asked my friend Amit on IM. He told me that the particular member is a scammer and that he has scammed many people. I did a quick search and found that the particular member has scammed already 6 people. Oh Now I am trapped badly ! A few days later someone else started a thread titled “Scammed By SundayBrew” and it was closed by a mod named Crazy_Rob. Few days later again another thread on the same subject “Scammed by SundayBrew”. The posts in the threads indicated that the particular member has scammed more than 12 people so far which includes myself, amit, honey, michael_goldman, Pammer, tesla, tastysites, CPW-Carl, Peeg, and WorldImpulse (Vaibhav Kakkar) who lost something like 500$. Totalling everything more than a few thousand bucks ! And so many threads on this member -

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=233284
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=507153
And a post here - Scammed By SundayBrew
Okay, NO BIG DEAL ! Right ? Now the thing is when a member is scamming everyone so openly, why do mods (Crazy_rob in all the cases) close all threads started by people who are scammed ? This DOES mean that mods are supporting the member and letting him scam more and more on a daily basis. Right ! And when i mentioned this bitter truth in a thread -
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=4827794&postcount=33
Crazy_Rob sends me a PM which says -
Were you joking here?
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=4827794&postcount=33
Ohhh I was joking ! I sent him a polite reply -
Man, no offence please. What else you expect me (and dozens of others) to think ? A member with 300+ iTraders scammed over 12 people openly (including me) totalling thousands of dollars and he is continuing to do so. Already around 6 times a thread started with same story “Scammed by sundaybrew” and he is still continuing …..
I was going to PM you regarding this but then i thought you will reply me negative again. All you do is close the thread each time. I do understand that it is not mod’s responsibility to deal with scams and personal disputes but this is a way tooo much man. He posts in threads to do some job, takes payment and then stop responding to emails and PMs and sometimes ignores the person. People trust him due to iTraders and Reps, isn’t it a abuse. Overall such activities hurt the reputation of the forum itself. He deserves to be banned from the forum but he is still continuing…… the stuff. Inorder to ensure smooth running of the forum, to protect other member’s interests and protect the reputation of the forum itself, he must be banned. Thats all i can say
regards
aditya
And he replied me with this statement -
Enjoy your ban, punk!
![]()
And the reason for ban which was mentioned -
Reason: Think twice before speaking from your ass!
[ Or in Other words - “Be Careful ! Don’t speak the truth on DP” ]
Okay ! What mods say about this is, its not their responsibility to deal with scams. Okay Agreed, but what if a member with 300+ iTraders and reps and 5000 posts scams so many people openly and everyone complains about him and mods simply close the thread, its a way too much and what I posted is obvious.
Anyways, don’t ever think my business is dependent upon a particular website. I don’t loose anything

I was almost scammed by sundaybrew, was very lucky to not lose a lot of money. He should have been banned long ago, the mods response is baffling.

DigitalPoint is a complete joke. I posted something about the misrepresentation of AffiliateElite - scammers pretending to be Brad Callen’s “Official Site”. The post was on the first page of Google for “Affiliate Elite” for about ten days but an Admin removed the post from DP - no notification to me. No PM. No email. And when I contacted them to ask why (three times), they ignore me. So fuck ‘em. Completely dodgy and useless forum full of scamming assholes and shonks.

Aditya, you have no idea as to how many people have been scammed by this guy. He takes you into confidence, be friends with you. And you start trusting him. And all of a sudden…BANG, he ditches, he makes excuses and he vanishes into thin air.
It’s been an year since i took his services. The first impression on the first project was WOW! But then i paid him upfront for two more projects. Till date i haven’t received the files. It’s the same old story everywhere with this guy.
Anyways, fact is, that Shawn and DP Mods have some special relation with this guy. Try opening thousand threads that you got scammed by this guy. Ten mins later, you will find yourself banned and all the threads missing.
Piece of advice: 1. Forget complaining about SB on DP. That’s like “Shouting in front of deaf ears”.

2. Get some tattoos on your body. DP tattoos. Then Rob, Shawn and party will be your slave as well

DigitalPoint itself is a scam, they allow their users to scam others and dont even ban them. One user just linked to a script that I coded and owned. He claimed to own my site and own the script and was selling it. When I made a post that he had no copy of my script and he did not own it and then I reported it to digitalpoint they did nothing, for 8 days the thread remained open until I threatened digitalpoint and then they closed the thread, banned my account and left the scammer alone to do it again to someone else. What happened, well later on he posted another thread and tried to sell mysapce.com, all that happened was people laughed at him. His account is cyberjack on digitalpoint and he is still not banned.

its funny they keep the shitty mods and ban people that actually have decent websites making money. These are the people you want around, not these scammers. They are ban crazy, give some child a little authority and they take it out of control.
Needless to say that forum will die from the crappy moderation. To bad

a crazy mod gave me a private infraction & later banned me for thread bumping. but i remembered that i had some enemies in the forum who were once ignored by me for trolling around in my business thread. i never thought that they’ll take this to a personal level & even give me infractions taking it as a revenge. my opinion is that dp doesn’t have a single professional mod nor admins. they’re digging their own grave gradually. i hope it becomes a history very soon.

crazy_rob thinks himself as the boss who runs the digital point. He is the one who should be banned first and not others. He is a sh*t at dp.

And I thought I am alone. I thought the mods are crazy with me only, pushing my threads around different forums, giving un-imagimable infractions and closing threads which do not break any froum rules.

Wow, great to see that many people complain about it.
I discovered DP in late 2004/early 2005, but signed up only in mid of 2006. Even thought about selling my services there. Prices where great and it have less people, smart one get this done quickly (Itraders, jobs, etc.). Good for them.
Anyway seeing what is going on now in B/S/T (and it mainly used for that (selling/buying) not gaining info) simply sad. People work below africans prices saying it’s manual, custom, etc. work. I bet they are using ready templates, spam tools, stolen scripts and of course most judged just by getting “good deal”…
Anyone in 2008 shouldn’t even consider to make business here with people who registered less than 2 years ago.
I’ve seen here people from US/UK/AU/Canada working for low then $5 per hour. I highly doubt they work with honest for that prices. With dirty tools it probably take them 5 min to do scam job.
I know many not big fan of sitepoint, but for making business it’s more serious, but paid (sure paid, how else something will be quality).
So your site + sitepoint + maybe few other forum + connections + word of mouth are the way to do it. Ebay, DP, free freelance sites are full of scum and con artists. Mainly cause it’s free.
Nice blog Aditya, will read regularly.

SEOLinker

I think this is sad, if people are scammed it should be the mods business, as it’s in the interests of the forum, to KEEP IT A SAFE PLACE!!!
Banning people for complaining they got scammed isn’t fair, most of them just want to alert other people from my experience.
I agree that the mods shouldn’t get involved with deals between traders but if someone or indeed a mass of people get scammed then they should act to stop other people from being scammed i’ve even seen people with loads of negative iTraders who don’t get banned and carry on scamming.
There needs to be a serious crackdown and some serious changes at DP if they want to keep their reputation intact.
