Why is BlogRush not that attractive ?
BlogRush, as everyone knows is the recent hype in the Blogosphere ! After Shoemoney, JohnChow and some big bloggers blogged about it , it went viral and everyone started using it including me and many of my friends ! But as many of you might have noticed that I have removed the BlogRush Widget from my sidebar. But why did I do so ? The main reason is obvious, the BlogRush concept is still immature and very partial. You might end up sending many clicks to other’s website whereas get nothing in return !
BlogRush is exchanging impressions. If i place the widget on my blog, the system will count the number of times the widget is displayed on my blog and display my latest post as a ad on on other blogs an equal number of times. And this is something NOT to be happy about ! Why ? Lets say you placed your widget on your sidebar which delivered 10000 impressions and lets say 100 visitors clicked the widget and went to other sites. Now it is very much possible that the other BlogRush users might have placed the widget in footer or some remote location which gets impressions on page loads but very unlikely that visitors will notice and click on it. This you end up sending 100 visitors to others and get nothing in return.
Moreover, exchanging impressions is just a plain stupid idea according to me ! If the system was made to exchange clicks, then I would have participated very actively. And actually it must follow the click exchange model. The number of people who click on my widget and go to other sites, the same number of clicks i must get from other websites !
Summing it up, BlogRush is not that attractive as it sounded initially !
