I have seen many people making and selling websites, blogs and especially Web Directory Sites (WoW !!!) on DigitalPoint and SitePoint forums lately and I see many of them keeping a BIN of 25000$ on their websites which i guess a intelligent person won’t buy in 100$ also. So what makes a site worth five figures.

If Your site has a decent PageRank then that is just an advantage which you can use to monetize through link sales and increase a bit revenue, not the main reason for the price. If you are a long term thinker, you will know very well how easy it is to get PR. Goto some webmaster marketplace and buy lots of high PR links and you will get a decent green bar next update. That surely doesn’t matter and most of you will agree to my point.

Your site has a decent amount of traffic and good rankings in search engines, your site is really great and many people will bid on it. But there is something which can even render a website with 10K uniques per day useless. The fact i am trying to stress upon is readership and the user’s involvement. Do you own a high traffic site which gets good amount of traffic from Search Engines ? If yes then open your analytics and take a look at your bounce rate. It will tell you how many of your visitors hit the cross button on the browser closing the window. Well so if you get 10K uniques from search engines and 90% visitors close the window at first sight, you still think the site is worth five figures ? Well revenue the site generates is another factor to consider, but still not the main one as it depends upon upto what extent are you monetizing your website. Some people must be getting decent amount of traffic still low revenues. You might think to bid on such a website which has revenue potential though it doesnt make that money right at the moment.

So whats the exact thing i want to say which makes a site well worth the money ? What really makes a website valuable according me ? Well guess how many of your visitors tell their girlfriends in a garden, “Darling ! I found an excellent website for you ! You will really enjoy surfing it !”. And the next day the girl calls the man and says “Hey ! You are my man ! The website you told me really made my day ! Awesome ! I love You ! Kisses for you”. Thats what makes your site valuable. What I want to say is, how much value does the website provide to the end surfers? This question matters.

Now think yourself which man will tell her girlfriend “Hey ! I Found this PR6 Human Edited Strong Web Directory !!!!” He will loose her !

PS - I DO AGREE THAT I HAVE TRIED AND SOLD SITES IN MY PAST ON THE BASIS OF PR AND HAVE EVEN OWNED AND SOLD WEB DIRECTORIES TOO. BUT I REALLY THINK , A PERSON NEEDS TIME TO LEARN. I HAVE TO AGREE THAT I WAS A NOOB THAT TIME. IT MUST BE MY WRONG PATH OR MY MISTAKE. I DO HAVE A CHANGE IN OPINIONS AND I AM PROUD THAT CAME OUT OF DARKNESS ! ! ! THESE ARE PURELY MY OPINIONS AND NO OFFENCE TO BE TAKEN ON THEM !
