My First Affiliate Commission

Written on September 30, 2007 – 6:04 pm | by aditya |

Though I have never been into affiliates that seriously, but last month i thought why not give it a try on my blog and as many of you might have noticed from past few months, i had kept HostGator and SEO Book Affiliate banners on my sidebar. My blog has a medium traffic or around 300 - 500 unique visitors per day. After keeping the banners for whole one month, i was fed up to see no commissions in either SEOBook or Hostgator, until today morning when i was checking my inbox. Whoa. .. . Hostgator Affiliate Commission ! ! ! I was exited. I logged into my account and saw the 50$ lying there :D . Perhaps this is the first ever affilliate commission i ever made online.

Lets have a look at the stats.

So what the stats speak ? They say that out of total 25 total uniques, i made 1 sale. Perhaps i will consider it as a great conversion rate. So this means that if I send hostgator 100 targetted unique hits, i have a chance of making 4 sales. Okay lets think a bit small. Lets say if i make even 2 sales per 100 uniques. that turns to be 100$ in commissions. So In other words, i will be making 1$ for every unique hit I send to HostGator and thats a good deal.

Well Some great ideas are revolving in my mind now. I will update here when I implement them.

You could have made $100 per sale if you have signed up with CJ.com to marketing Hostgator products through their affiliate program.

    Try it.

18 months ago I was in your position; I had a blog and stuck a few banners on it. I aint looked back since! I am considering giving up my day job to do Affiliate marketing full time.

Keep up the good work, it can and does pay!
