Written on September 17, 2007 – 12:20 pm | by aditya |

The only source from where i got this news is TechCrunch and this is probably announced at the TechCrunch40 conference going on in San Francisco Today. The news is that Yahoo Inc. has acquired a open source office software named Zimbra for a 350 million $ cash deal.

The company was funded in 6 rounds by Venture Capital firms including Benchmark Partners, Redpoint ventures, Accell Capital , and 3 others and they had confirmed in march, 2007 about having 6 million paid customers of their mailboxes and in a current deal with Comcast they will be having another 12 million paid customers under their Belt.

This quick move will make Yahoo Inc. compete Google for the next generation Online/ Offline office suite.
