MillionDollarWiki - Is it really worth 100$ ?

Written on September 13, 2007 – 10:57 am | by aditya |

Well, the MillionDollarWiki is what i am hearing around on the internet from quite many days. Big bloggers like Shoemoney and JohnChow blogging and talking about it, people making threads on Digitalpoint like this. Well i went around to read about it and find out what exactly is hot about it ?

What is MillionDollarWiki exactly ? - Graham Langdon a student from the university of Connecticut came with this business idea to make a Wiki where each page is owned by someone. You can get your own page on the site for 100$ and it will be up for the next 15 years atleast. You can buy the page for the sake of links, advertising space or traffic. You are free to do anything on the page. Just place some content and adsense on it or write some content to drive traffic to your websites or may be sell some products on it or may be anything.

Is it worth 100 bucks ? - Well Shoemoney says that he got 180 unique hits to his site NextPimp in a week after the purchase of the keyword Free Ringtones. Well 180 unique hits in 1 week, i think there can be good ways to monetize this traffic. I guess its my time to try it out.

Also i can see people talking about how they are making money with their MillionDollarWiki page here

Now what i am thinking is, i must buy a page there but all i need is a brilliant idea so that i could break even with my page quickly. What the brilliant Idea could be. I will tell you as soon as i implement it ;)

    Not a bad idea :)

I confused it with the million dollar home page, which was just a crap!

It is still a crap idea. Milliondollarhomepage was a novel concept. No body has even thought of selling pixel for advertisement. Yes, for advertiser it was a complete waste.

People have sold words on page. So that is not a new idea. Just because you sell word using a wiki software does not make it novel idea.

It is the buzz. Nobody will go there to get any useful thing.

By the way, I have a word and I bought when it was in its infancy. I have a very high paying adsense word. I got little over 100 uniques and I don’t home to get any nore.

    Hey guys,

    This is shameless promotion:

We just launched http://FiveDollarWiki.com where you can buy links for 5 bucks!

The only difference is money here, the content would be about the same.

    This is top secret:

On the sidenote, we are working on our Top Secret, http://OneBuckWiki.com which we will launch in few days but don’t tell anyone yet. Shhhh….

We are also looking for couple people to build content. Basically we will hook you up with free pages and you have to put some good content right away.

You can email me at max [at] fivedollarwiki.com

Meh, frank;y I think MillionDollarWiki sucks and hope quitely it’s been forgotten about is just added proof. Personally, I’m in favour of opensource material and if thats the case you’re better of using Wikipedia, , or Squidoo.
